Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Poles oversees the team before a game against the Denver Broncos at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, on October 01, 2023.
In the entire history of the franchise, the Chicago Bears have never embraced a modern offensive approach, distinguishing themselves as the sole NFL team lacking a quarterback who has thrown for 4,000 yards or 30 touchdowns in a single season. However, this trend may soon change with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s vision for the team’s offensive strategy, which now boasts an array of talented weapons.
During a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” GM Ryan Poles emphasized Waldron’s ability to position Caleb Williams for success, expressing enthusiasm for the team’s diverse offensive arsenal.
With standout wide receivers Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, and Rome Odunze, along with newly acquired running back D’Andre Swift and top-tier tight end Cole Kmet, Williams is surrounded by exceptional talent.
For years, fans have clamored for the Bears to modernize their offense, as the team has relied heavily on traditional, run-focused tactics and conservative passing schemes. Notably, since Jay Cutler in 2015, no Bears quarterback has surpassed 3,500 passing yards, with Mitchell Trubisky and Justin Fields failing to meet expectations.
Williams now finds himself in a far more favorable position within this revamped offense compared to his predecessors, Trubisky and Fields, providing him with ample opportunity to thrive.
