Leicester City overcame a 1-0 deficit on Monday afternoon to upset Norwich City 3-1 and avenge their previous match loss.
After Gabriel Sara’s opening goal, Leicester City fell behind early on, but a header from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall made sure the score was tied at the half. In the second half, Jamie Vardy and Stephy Mavididi finished the comeback.
After winning at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes briefly took the lead again in the Championship standings, but later in the day, Ipswich Town and Leeds United also emerged victorious in their separate matches, forcing the East Midlands team back into third place.
Top-notch performances were abundant for Enzo Maresca’s team in every category. Reporter Jordan Blackwell of Leicestershire Live gave a good few of them ratings of eight out of ten, with Manchester City loanee Callum Doyle receiving a particularly high rating.
After the game, Blackwell said the following about the 20-year-old defender, who had shown resiliency at the back for the Foxes:
Throughout the game, I helped Mavididi attack from the left, varying up his approach by running in behind himself or making deep crosses. He makes City a different proposition with his forward passing, which at times was fantastic thanks to his lovely left foot. Strong on defense against [Jack] Stacey.
Despite missing a significant portion of the season due to injury, the young player may not have had the influence he had planned for this season, but on Monday afternoon, he played a fantastic role on the left and showed his value to the team.
The young player, who spent the previous season at Coventry City, is learning a lot with Leicester. It will be intriguing to see what plans Manchester City has for his growth when he returns there in the upcoming season.
This season, he has made 20 appearances for Maresca’s team and has contributed to nine clean sheets across all competitions while also recording two assists.
In their next Championship match, which takes place on Saturday afternoon, Doyle and the Foxes will host Birmingham City in an attempt to solidify their position as the clear favorites to win the championship.
