At the Texas Children’s Houston Open, Tony Finau and Alejandro Tosti, a rookie on the PGA Tour, got into a heated argument about who would putt first.
Alejandro Tosti and Tony Finau had an on-course altercation in Houston

After a three-minute debate and a stare-down between the two golfers, who both desired to benefit from the putt’s line and speed, Tosti took the putt after convincing adversary Finau to relocate his marker. As PGA Tour rules officer Mark Dusbabek was brought on to The Golf Channel broadcast to examine the lengthy conversation, NBC analyst Steve Sands referred to it as a “wild scenario”.

At the par-4 fourth hole, Finau and Tosti eventually made their putts and left with two-putt pars. However, it did not prevent a recurrence on the par-4 sixth hole. As Finau got closer to the hole, he used his right to force Tosti to take the initial shot.

On-course commentator John Wood stated, “You can cut the tension between Finau and Tosti with a knife right now.” “They were attempting to determine who was absent in the same situation just now. Tony simply nodded to him before turning to leave. With a vague smile, Tosti seemed to ask, “Are you serious?” It’s just so cold in between those two, it’s not comfy at all. It is simply tension.

“Back on 5 after their first confrontation on 4, Tosti was pretty close to Tony and he just gave it two big fist-pumps,” Wood continued. No affection is lost.”

Tosti earned his tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour the previous season, thus this controversy is not his first time on the PGA Tour. The PGA Tour shockingly ordered Tosti to withdraw from the KFT’s Boise Open following the opening round due to a “disciplinary matter.”

At the midway mark of the Houston tournament, Finau did find himself ahead of the field by two shots. He is currently tied for ninth place, having subsequently lost his way. He will be facing opponents like as world number one Scottie Scheffler. Prior to the surrender, Finau remarked, “I hit some nice shots, but it was mostly just draining some putts from long distance.”

“I contributed to Eagle on Eight. The next moment, I’m thinking, “Whoa, eight under.” This game has an odd way of working, yet you’re never planning too far ahead.”

Scheffler, meanwhile, is tied for first on Sunday. The 27-year-old just won The Players Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational back-to-back.

As play continues in Houston, Stephan Jäger, Thomas Detry, and David Skinns are also tied with the world No. 1.
