Look, we understand. Because your days are packed, you don’t have time to read every article and tweet from the three dozen websites that cover Ohio State athletics or the 237 beat writers that produce insightful analysis and engaging material every day. But don’t worry, your friends at Land-Grant Holy Land are here to help with that.

Our daily “Why is this News?” piece will include all of the articles, tweets, features, interviews, videos, podcasts, memes, images, and anything else we come across on the internet, Monday through Friday. You’ll have a one-stop shop for the latest recent Buckeye jokes, news, and analysis that way.

Thank you very much!

The Ohio native from Garfield Heights declared his commitment to the Buckeyes today. After committing to Ohio State as a high school recruit, Johnson played for the team for two years before moving to South Carolina. Before deciding to use the transfer site, Johnson became a second-team all-SEC player with the Gamecocks in 2023–2024.

Johnson averaged 13.4 points in his two seasons with the Gamecocks, following two seasons at the Buckeyes where he finished with a 3.2 point average (including a game-winning shot against Seton Hall in his sophomore year).

Johnson started all 33 games at South Carolina and averaged 14.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists to win second-team all-SEC accolades.

Now, he’s playing his fifth and final season of collegiate ball back where it all started.

He said, “I am a lifelong Buckeye,” in a statement made public by THE Foundation. “I’ll stop at nothing to bring our squad home victorious! Playing for (coach) Jake Diebler excites me. With Coach Diebler leading the way, you can tell the program has a lot of momentum, and I’m excited to be a part of this comeback!

“I want to be a part of this team because I know what it can and will be. Something unique that hasn’t been done around here in a very long time is what I want to be a part of. I want to represent my home club by winning titles at the greatest level possible.”
