The Ammies, who last week finished with four points out of a possible six, will be hoping to continue their winning streak against Morecambe and Stockport County when they visit Meadow Lane on Saturday.
However, given the short interval between games last week, Karl Robinson‘s team had some difficulties.
“Since Tuesday last week, we’ve just had to put in a ton of physical and mental work in order to prepare for games. Thankfully, we’ve made it through, and we’re all fired up and ready for a really tough game on Saturday.”
When the Gaffer thought back on his hectic schedule from last week and the five lineup adjustments made for the Morecambe game, he realized that his main goal was to keep the team as fresh as possible.
“I’ve never shied away from the duty of making several adjustments if I believe they are best for the team.
We had a number of players with incredible athletic prowess; yet, after looking at Barrow, I felt that we played on a few games with very challenging grounds and that, for the most part, we looked a little flat.
“It wasn’t because somebody wasn’t playing well; in fact, I might have argued that Conor McAleny was the best player against Stockport, but his production was so high and continued so quickly.
“We need to make sure that players understand that their shirt is never 100% safe, and sometimes you have to do what we did on Sunday to get that kind of response. We also need to keep people on their toes.”
With seven games left, The Ammies are currently eleven points above the relegation spots after their victory over Morecambe on Sunday.
“It’s all about getting as many points as we can, and our first priority is to play Notts County away this weekend,” said the player.
The Magpies, however, can take pride in their most recent victory as they regained all three points at The Peninsula Stadium during their league match in September.
