Before the 2024 Formula One season got off, Guenther Steiner left Haas. Since then, questions have been raised regarding his possible replacement at the defending champion Red Bull, Christian Horner, who is under pressure.
Guenther Steiner has dismissed rumors that he would take Christian Horner’s place at Red Bull with a laugh.
Since resigning from his position as Haas team principal last year, the 58-year-old has been unemployed. He was one of the F1 team chiefs with the longest tenure, having taken over the position in 2016.
Ayao Komatsu took over for Steiner after that and started a career in the media. He is still connected to a quick comeback to motorsport, though.

When asked if he thought he might succeed Horner in the near future, Steiner responded in a way that was always entertaining. The Italian laughed as he added, “Ha ha, I don’t think so,” in an interview with The Telegraph. F****** hell, is that even possible?
Saying “Yes, I could do it” is simple. But proof of such is still pending. Do I think I could succeed? Indeed. But the atmosphere is quite competitive.
After eight years with Haas, Steiner has acknowledged that he is not in a rush to find another opportunity, despite being tipped for a return to Formula One. “I have a very open mind,” he continued.
Steiner had a way of answering questions about whether or not he felt he might take over Horner soon that was always interesting. In an interview with The Telegraph, the Italian continued, “Ha ha, I don’t think so,” while laughing. Really, is that really possible? F****** hell.
It’s easy to say “Yes, I could do it”. However, evidence of this is still lacking. Do I have a chance of succeeding? Yes, in fact. However, there’s a lot of competition there.
Though he is expected to return to Formula One, Steiner has stated that he is not in a rush to find another chance after eight years with Haas. He went on, “I’m very open-minded.”

The new season hasn’t gone well for Haas without Steiner leading the team. After two races, they have only managed one point, with Nico Hulkenberg finishing 10th in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Haas will undoubtedly strive to do better than that during the season. In Steiner’s last season before leaving, they placed last in the Constructors Standings.
At the end of the season, Gene Haas gave an explanation for the decision to let Steiner go, saying, “As an organization, it was clear we need to improve our on-track performances.” Ayao Komatsu’s appointment as Team Principal reflects the basic engineering focus of our management.
“Although we have seen some success, we must continue to produce outcomes that support our organization’s larger objectives. While we must make effective use of the resources at our disposal, strengthening our team’s capacity for design and engineering is essential.
