Following the issuance of an arrest warrant for cornerback Cam Sutton, the Detroit Lions have decided what will happen to him going forward.

The Lions said on Thursday that Sutton was cut loose. The judgment was made just one day after Sutton, who is wanted on a domestic assault charge, was put out of search by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

CB Cam Sutton was released by the #Lions.

The 29-year-old Sutton is accused of strangling a domestic battery. Sutton was charged on March 7 with assaulting a woman and then fleeing the scene, leading to the issuance of the warrant. Since then, police have been unable to find him. The claims obviously worried the Lions enough that they concluded it was time for his discharge.

In the previous offseason, Sutton inked a $33 million, three-year contract with the Lions. He started all 17 of the team’s regular-season games and all three of the playoff contests. Sutton’s sole season with the team will end with 60 total tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble.
