Unsettling information regarding  cornerback Cam Sutton, who has allegedly been evading the law in Florida for the previous two weeks, was revealed on Thursday.
Due to a domestic violence incident, Sutton presently has an arrest warrant out for him. It is evident that he has no intention of complying with the warrant, since Florida police enforcement is still searching for him to bring him in.
Given that Sutton is a free agent and that Detroit is a team that is now ascending in the NFL, the Lions made the predictable decision to cut him on Thursday. The NFC North division winners have no interest in being associated with the troublesome cornerback’s current circumstances.
Due to Sutton’s release by the Lions on Thursday, he would forfeit a sizable portion of the money he was due for the 2024 NFL season.
Pro Football Talk claims that Sutton will forfeit his fully guaranteed $10.5 million pay for the upcoming campaign.
Sutton’s bank account would suffer greatly from missing so much money that was supposed to be paid to him, on top of the repercussions of being wanted by the government.
Sutton, a 29-year-old former University of Tennessee standout, has seen everything fall apart, including the likelihood that he is finished playing in the NFL.
The Lions will need to replace Sutton as the main cornerback after he leaves the organization in Detroit. They may choose to target free agency in the NFL or the 2024 NFL Draft.
