Regarding Cartwright, Arthur stated, “He could be out one week, he could be out four, but he’s also every chance of playing on Monday.” He had previous rib problems. Now, the question is how much suffering he can take.

“He offered as much as he could and said he’ll see how much longer he can keep going after getting needled the other day at halftime. His duration was fifty-two minutes. I’ll give him until Sunday if he wants me to give him every chance to play this week; he has earned that privilege.

After making an impressive debut in the centers against Manly on Sunday, Talagi will now play in the halves alongside Dylan Brown against the Tigers. Mitchell Moses, the  Ethan Sanders halfback, will be sidelined for several months due to a foot injury.

Talagi’s fellow rookie in the NRL, Lachie Galvin, a former classmate from Westfields Sports High who made an impression for the Tigers against Cronulla, will be waiting for him. Arthur was comfortable staying with Talagi, who played No. 6 as a junior, even though he had choices with youngster Ethan Sanders and Jye Gray.

Arthur told this masthead, “I like him because he’s a kid learning his trade, he’ll make mistakes, but he’ll move on and keep going with the game.”

Blaize has many positive qualities, but I think what really stands out about him is how tough he is and how he doesn’t allow anything get to him.

In order to give him a chance, we exclusively played him in the centers and at fullback last year. He also completed all of his junior reps at five-eighth. He was ecstatic and couldn’t take his smile off when I told him about being at No. 6 today.

Similar to Galvin, Talagi is big and strong. He was selected to be the Australian Schoolboys’ five-eighth in 2022, beating out Jye Gray, a flyer from South Sydney and a Queensland wonder.

With just over ten minutes left in the Sea Eagles game, Moses had surgery to repair a foot injury he sustained from an innocent tackle by Luke Brooks.

He has previously played after suffering a serious injury. Moses overcame discomfort from a fractured back sustained on his NSW Origin III debut in 2021, as well as a broken cheekbone sustained against Brisbane the previous year.

“During the game, I realized something wasn’t right with him. After I spoke with him, he simply shook his head and dipped his foot in an ice bucket. Arthur remarked, “People probably get tired of me saying it, but they don’t realize how tough Mitch is.”

Only Bryce Cartwright, who had a rib injury during the initial battles, equaled Moses’ valor.
