Ray Parlour was blown away in real time on television when Ally McCoist introduced him to the Rangers team he was a member of.
McCoist listed some of the players he played with, including Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne, Ray Wilkins, Graeme Souness, Terry Butcher, Trevor Francis, Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, and Terry Hurlock, in a speech on talkSPORT on Friday, March 22, at 9:16 a.m.
Hurlock was praised by Parlour, who replied, “What a team.” McCoist concurred, calling the former Light Blues midfielder a “great player.”
Parlour remarked, “That team you had at the Rangers was some team.”
“Incorporate a little Terry Hurlock with Laudrup, Gazza, Wilkins, Souness, Butcher, Gary Stevens, and Trevor Stevens,” McCoist continued.
“What a team,” Parlour answered. “Is it true that Terry was a good player?”
McCoist remarked, “I loved Terry, great player.” “He was a bright young man who could also play.”
Without a doubt, Rangers have had a number of famous people come through the doors at Ibrox and go on to win trophies with the team.
When you consider some of those names—some of whom have amassed a significant number of caps for their national teams—it’s astounding.
Having scored over 250 goals for the team in a 15-year span, McCoist’s ability to hold his spot in the starting lineup among those guys in the building is a testament to his greatness.
Even though the Light Blues haven’t had such a strong team in the past, after just a few months in command, there is optimism that Philippe Clement may be onto something spectacular.
The Belgian has led Glasgow to a great start to its new life, and he will be looking to add more medals to the Viaplay Cup his team has already won this year.
In other Rangers news, following what transpired with the Gers, Neil Lennon declared a scenario to be “unacceptable.”
