The official 2024 NFL Draft first round has concluded. As the remaining draft of this year progresses, we can’t help but look ahead. Although there isn’t quite as much quarterback flash as there was in 2024, 2025 is still a great year for receivers, a year of redemption for defensive linemen and running backs, and it will undoubtedly determine the future of Colorado studs Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders.
Even if there is only one round of this year’s draft, it is challenging to organize a mock draft a year in advance, but it is exciting to begin daydreaming and a fantastic chance to showcase some of the best players from college football to the NFL.
The Panthers are once again expected to finish last in the NFL, and they seem to be unable to break the cycle of injuries to their quarterback (which, to be honest, they caused by trading for Bryce Young last year). In the event that the Panthers select first overall, they most likely have a quarterback problem, but no player in 2025 fits the profile of being the best pick overall. This would be a trade-back or a spot for Tennessee’s James Pearce Jr., the top edge-rusher in college football. Since Pearce is from Charlotte, the Panthers should enjoy this signing; he might develop into their next Julius Peppers.
The Commanders selected their quarterback of the future in 2024, and now it’s time to select Travis Hunter—possibly the franchise’s face—who is a generational talent and the top college football player. As a sophomore, Hunter saw limited action but still recorded 1,044 snaps. He was a two-way player who had seven games with over 100 snaps. For the average defender, that is more than two seasons’ worth of reps. He is a deft cornerback with the ability to excel at receiver and with the ball as well.
