The Premier League filed charges against  for violating the Profit and Sustainability Rules for the 2022–2023 season.

After Everton and Nottingham Forest lost points, Leicester City is the most recent team to face charges related to a purported violation of the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The Foxes were demoted to the Championship after the previous season, but the Premier League has discovered that they were allegedly in violation of a contract that expired in 2022–2023.

Since Leicester’s relegation to the English football league’s second division occurred before new Premier League standard directives were implemented, the investigation will follow the schedule established by the independent commission.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Premier League said: “Leicester City FC has been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League due to a suspected violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) and their failure to provide the League with their audited financial reports.

“The purported violation pertains to the evaluation phase concluding in Season 2022–2023, during which the team was a Premier League participant.

Prior to the implementation of the Premier League’s new Standard Directions, which provide a timeframe for PSR matters to be adjudicated, Leicester City was demoted to the EFL Championship. As a result, the proceedings will follow a schedule that the independent Commission will establish, and the Premier League website will host the Commission’s ultimate ruling.”

After the Blues and Forest, Leicester is now the third team in the Premier League this season to face charges; however, Enzo Maresca’s team is the first from the Championship to receive official league sanction.

These are all of the Premier League’s FFP fees.

Everton
The Premier League filed a complaint against Everton and requested that an impartial commission handle the PSR case last year. Everton acknowledged throughout the hearing that they had violated the PSRs of the league for the season that ended in 2021–2022.

Following a five-day hearing, the commission determined that Everton’s PSR computation caused a loss of £124.5 million, surpassing the threshold. Sean Dyche’s team received a 10-point deduction right away as a result of the penalty, which dropped them to only four points and into the relegation zone.

But after an appeal, their penalty was lowered to four points. Along with Nottingham Forest, they were accused of another PSR violation in January. They are awaiting the independent panel’s decision.

Forest of Nottingham
On March 18, Nottingham Forest received a four-point deduction. The sentence stemmed from a £34.5 million violation of the applicable PSR of £61 million.

After the decision, Forest dropped to 16th place, one point behind Luton Town and four ahead of Everton, and into the relegation zone. The sale of Brennan Johnson, who turned down a £30 million move to Brentford early in the summer transfer window in favor of joining Tottenham Hotspur for £47.5 million in September—after the PSR deadline on June 30—was the focal point of Forest’s defense despite their admission of the infringement.
