Chukwuma Okorafor, a former starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will suit the New England Patriots in a different capacity.
Pittsburgh Chukwuma Okorafor, a former offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will have a different job for his new squad than he had for the black and gold.
Okorafor will switch from the right to the left side of the field when he moves from the Steelers to the Patriots. Eliot Wolf, the de facto general manager and head of scouting for New England, stated last week that Okorafor would start at left tackle for the team if the season began today.
According to Patriots beat reporter Taylor Kyles, Okorafor spent the most of his time on the field as a college at Western Michigan, starting at left tackle. He has played all but a few snaps during his professional career. With the former Steeler, New England hopes to have found a dependable starting tackle after struggling to find one during the previous campaign.
After being released by the Steelers early in the offseason, Okorafor was able to take advantage of his free agent alternatives. After all, he signed a one-year deal worth $4 million at base value with the possibility of earning $8.25 million by the end of the season with the Patriots.
