As he recovers from shoulder concerns this spring, Toronto Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman is already expected to miss Opening Day, but after tossing a sim game on Wednesday morning, he received encouraging news.
Kevin Gausman, the ace of the Toronto Blue Jays, received positive feedback following a mock game on Wednesday morning, but it is still unclear if he will be included on the Opening Day roster.
Tuesday revealed that Jose Berrios will start for the Jays on Opening Day; however, it remains unclear if Gausman will have to start the season on the injured list or will only be pushed back for the first few days.
As stated on social media by Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling:
Gausman said everything felt sound physically. His next step is to target 60-65 pitches over three innings in a game, likely on Monday. Club and Gausman will make a call on his availability for start of season following that outing.
