According to a recent NFL Draft analysis, JJ McCarthy’s prospects continue to soar leading up to next month’s draft, even surpassing other quarterbacks in some evaluations. ESPN’s Matt Miller reported in a new NFL Draft notebook that several teams have placed McCarthy ahead of North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye on their draft boards. NFL franchises are particularly impressed by McCarthy’s composure under pressure, track record of victories, and potential as a mobile quarterback.
Throughout the pre-draft process, McCarthy has consistently received positive feedback. Initially ranked as the fourth-best quarterback prospect, recent speculation suggests he could now be considered the second quarterback to be drafted. This shift is surprising, given that Maye and Jayden Daniels were previously regarded as the second and third-best quarterbacks, respectively.
Notably, McCarthy’s former college coach has been vocal in praising him, and it appears that these sentiments are increasingly shared by other teams in the league. Consequently, it wouldn’t be surprising to witness McCarthy being selected within the top three picks of the draft.
