The project will premiere in the fall prior to the start of next season, and promises to give hockey fans an “unprecedented access to life” in the league.

Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander is one of about a dozen hockey players who will feature prominently in the NHL’s upcoming docuseries on Amazon Prime.

The project, which has yet to be titled but will premiere in the fall prior to the start of next season, promises to give hockey fans an “unprecedented access to life” in the league by turning the cameras on some of the high-profile players on and off the ice throughout the season and up until the Stanley Cup final ends.

It’s a leaguewide endeavour, but the gist of it is similar to what the Toronto Raptors have been doing for a while with its ”Open Gym” series.

Aside from Nylander, other stars in this new series include Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and his teammate Leon Draisaitl, Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk, New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba, Boston Bruins teammates David Pastrnak and Jeremy Swayman, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel, Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg, and Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, among others.
