Finch was on the sideline at the Footprint Center giving orders to his players. With only a few minutes left in the fourth quarter, their point guard and key defensive player Mike Conley ran onto the sideline without being able to stop in time. Finch was in the way and Conley hit his knee and fell to the floor.
It would go from a silly hit to the worst. He was treated and while Micah Nori was taking over the Timberwolves, a serious knee injury was confirmed for the Ohio coach. A tear in the tendon of the right patella, an injury that requires surgery and several months off. He could even make it between rounds and lead his team in any way he can.
“He’s in good spirits and the guys are in good spirits,” Nori confirmed after Finch sat close as the Wolves clinched a berth in the Western Conference semi-finals. A big step for a team that has in its coach one of its key players. It starts with the defence and leads to the sensational Anthony Edwards.
Edwards and Finch have grown up together and that is one of the secrets. “My relationship with the coach has been getting better and better and we’ve been trusting each other more since the last Playoffs,” said ‘Ant’. They continue to grow, even if the coach has to undergo surgery after a nasty injury.
