In just two more months, the decade-long wait for a college football game will finally end.

After ten years, the eagerly awaited EA Sports football video game is returning, and while much remains the same, particularly the choice of cover athlete, excitement mounts as anticipation builds for the release date. Another Michigan football player will adorn the cover as reigning national champions, sparking curiosity about the game’s updated features and improvements.

“The Don” shares the honor for the fourth time, though perhaps not the most deserving candidate, benefiting from Michigan’s prominence in the spotlight. As the game’s July release approaches, speculation arises about which players will dominate in ratings.

Leading the pack is Will Johnson, projected to be Michigan’s top-rated player. As a potential top ten NFL draft pick in 2025, his ranking will reflect his future prospects, despite not being ranked in the top 10 by CBS Sports or 247Sports. While his rating may initially fall within the 90-95 range, it’s expected to rise as the season progresses. Jo’Ziah Edmond also stands out as a high-rated defensive recruit.

In contrast, the second cornerback position will see lower ratings, with players like Jaden McBurrows and Jyaire Hill likely falling between 75-85. However, with Rod Moore potentially available, Michigan’s defense could boast three starting-caliber safeties in the game, providing additional depth and versatility.
