This could be a significant development for Rangers…

With the transfer window approaching swiftly amidst the conclusion of an eventful Scottish Premiership season, Rangers seem to have received encouraging news regarding one of Philippe Clement’s summer targets.

As things currently stand, Rangers appear unlikely to clinch the Scottish Premiership title, with Celtic in a dominant position to retain their crown. However, this setback is expected to prompt Rangers into action in the transfer market. Clement’s inaugural summer at the helm is poised to usher in several changes, with numerous contracts expiring at the season’s end.

Among those expected to depart are Leon Balogun, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, and, most disappointingly for the club, John Lundstram. Despite Rangers’ efforts to retain the midfielder, it appears increasingly likely that he will leave as a free agent this summer. Nevertheless, Lundstram’s departure will create room for further reinforcements, potentially paving the way for new arrivals through permanent deals.

There have been reports linking Fabio Silva with a permanent move from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, and now it seems Abdallah Sima could be next. With reports indicating Rangers are leading the race to sign the winger, they have received another boost.

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Brighton & Hove Albion are now open to selling Sima for just £6 million this summer, presenting Rangers with a significant advantage in negotiations. Previously valued between £10 million and £15 million, this reduced price should alleviate any financial concerns, particularly considering Sima’s £8,500 per-week salary.

Securing Sima’s permanent signature should be a top priority for Rangers this summer, particularly if they aim to overthrow Celtic.

Despite being sidelined by injury during his loan spell at Ibrox this season, Sima has made a notable impact, including scoring against Celtic in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Former Brighton coach Billy Reid has praised Sima’s potential, highlighting his infectious character and work ethic. Reid’s endorsement, featured in The Scottish Sun, suggests Sima could play a pivotal role in Rangers’ bid to surpass their Old Firm rivals.
