Former Arkansas State kicker Dominic Zvada revealed his decision to join the Michigan football team on X. Zvada, originally from Chandler, Arizona, had limited Division I offers after high school. However, he has since established himself as a top-tier kicker over the past two seasons with the Red Wolves.
During his freshman year, Zvada emerged as a standout, becoming a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, a distinction only a handful of Arkansas State players have achieved. He impressed with a 17-for-18 record on field goals, with his only miss from a long 51-yard attempt. Notably, he delivered a flawless 4-for-4 performance against Ohio State, a feat not accomplished since 2000. Moreover, his 56-yard field goal against Texas State ranked as the second-longest in FBS for the 2021-22 season.
In his most recent season, Zvada continued to excel, scoring a career-best 92 points, with a 17-for-22 record on field goals and a perfect 41-for-41 on extra points. His performance earned him a spot on the Lou Groza Award Watch List. Additionally, he took on kickoff duties towards the end of the season.
Zvada’s arrival at Michigan comes at a crucial time for the team’s special teams unit, following the departure of James Turner, who transferred to Michigan last year but has since declared for the NFL Draft. In the recent Spring Game, senior Tommy Doman handled punting duties, while kicking responsibilities were shared between sophomores Adam Samaha and Cordell Jones-McNally.
With Zvada joining the Wolverines, the team gains valuable depth and experience in the kicking department.
