The Ipswich fan commentator for FLW talked about Kieran McKenna allegedly being considered for the West Ham position.
Though Kieran McKenna’s future at Ipswich Town is sure to be a subject of debate this summer, especially if his team isn’t promoted, FLW’s Ipswich fan commentator Henry is quietly optimistic that McKenna will still be at Portman Road come next season.
“I think there’s only a couple of clubs that McKenna would be swayed by, and that are able to be moulded the way that he wants to play football and how he wants the club to be run behind the scenes.”
Henry cited past West Ham performances as evidence that the young manager might not be best served by moving to the Hammers.
He stated: “It would be somewhat risky for him to leave for a team like West Ham, where they have historically made snap decisions regarding managers and players. For example, when Moyes left the team and later returned, and as you saw with Sebastien Haller, who arrived and was promptly sold because he didn’t appear to fit the mold of what they were trying to do.
Kieran McKenna took a risk leaving the Manchester United set-up to join a side struggling in League One, and it’s certainly paid off for the 37-year-old.
If he led Ipswich to promotion, his side would become the first side to make it back-to-back promotions since bitter rivals Norwich City did so 13 years ago, and as a young manager, it would make the feat even more impressive for McKenna.
