Michigan men’s basketball coach Dusty May has already landed his second transfer portal pickup, only a day after he was awarded his first.
The Wolverines have received a commitment from former Yale center Danny Wolf, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter via X.
After playing for the Bulldogs for two years, the seven-footer joined the portal. Wolf played in 30.8 minutes per game with an average of 14.1 points and 9.7 rebounds in his sophomore season, starting all but one of the games. He led the Ivy League in rebounds during his campaign, earning him unanimous first-team All-Ivy recognition. He played a crucial role in Yale’s upset of No. 4 seed Auburn in the March Madness tournament.
Wolf, a native of Glencoe, Illinois, participated in the 2023 FIBA European Championship as a member of Team Israel’s Under-20 squad. With an average of second-best 17.7 points per game and a tournament-leading 12 rebounds per game, Wolf helped Israel win a silver medal.
After sophomore forward Tarris Reed Jr. left for Connecticut, Michigan desperately needed a center, and Wolf provides height and skill to the team. Wolf, who was ranked as the 18th-best player in On3’s transfer portal rankings, was in high demand on the platform. Just one month into his job, May is already proving to be a skilled recruiter as evidenced by his dedication to the Wolverines.
Although there are still many components that Michigan and May need to add to their rosters in order to make them competitive, Wolf’s dedication adds another impressive aspect to May’s early career stats.
