Manchester United lost a three-goal lead and survived a close offside call in extra time, but they rallied to defeat Coventry and advance to the FA Cup final on penalties.

In the quarterfinals, Coventry overcame Wolves 3-2 through a remarkable comeback, and on the grandest platform, they came dangerously close to surpassing that performance. Rasmus Hojlund, nevertheless, maintained composure to kick United’s winning penalty.

Before Harry Maguire headed in a corner kick to make it 2-0 before halftime, Scott McTominay opened the score with a tap-in from Diogo Dalot’s low cross.

Victor Torp attempted a spectacular volley, but Onana made a spectacular save to stop it. However, Wan-Bissaka was called for a handball after Luis Binks threw the ball at him from a few yards out, which changed the outcome of the match. From the penalty spot, Hadji Wright maintained his composure to force extra time.

In the closing moments of a wild extra-time period, Simms slammed an effort into the bar after Fernandes had struck the bar and Wright had pulled a shot wide. Torp looked to have won it in the closing seconds, but VAR’s discovery that Wright was offside during the build-up to penalties ended the chaos.
