The 2023-24 Michigan football squad is one of the most talented college football teams in recent years. Rival supporters have claimed the Wolverines cheated, despite the NCAA’s statement that it was won “fair and square.”
The charting narrative did not pass the smell test. At least not for anyone who is still alive and knows anything about football. Ohio State football supporters have lost their wits after losing three straight games against Michigan by an average of 14 points.
It’s understandable. But what’s going to bug them is watching Michigan football break the NFL record for draft picks by one school in one NFL draft later this month. At least if Grant Hughes, a CBS Sports analyst is right with his prediction.
Hughes predicts that Michigan football will have 17 players drafted in the 2024 NFL draft. Jim Harbaugh made this prediction before the season. He also predicted J.J. McCarthy would go No. 1 and while that doesn’t seem likely, McCarthy should go top five.
The draft is going to be dominated by Michigan football though. Not in the first round, but starting in the second, a ton of Wolverines are going to get drafted. Mike Sainristil should be a first-round pick. NFL teams will regret passing on him. Blake Corum, Zak Zinter, Kris Jenkins, Roman Wilson, and a bunch of others have a shot to go on day two and should.
It’s hard to imagine (sarcasm) how Michigan football won a national title with 17 draft picks and an NFL coaching staff. In truth, it’s not hard to grasp, unless you’re an Ohio State fan, red in the face, screaming about dropping the hammer
