Western Suburbs Magpies suffered a 42-16 defeat against the Bears in Round 5 of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup at North Sydney Oval.
The Bears took an early lead, leading 16-0 before a try by Magpies center Declan Casey narrowed the score to 16-6 at halftime.
The home team continued their dominance in the second half, with prop Nelson Asofa Solomona among the scorers in three unanswered tries, extending their lead to 32-6.
Despite a valiant effort from the Magpies in the second half, with Solomon Alaimalo and Josh Feledy both crossing the try line, they ultimately succumbed to an eight-tries-to-two loss.
Next on the agenda for Aaron Payne’s squad is a match against the Dragons at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday.
