A Leicester City player has received criticism from Matt Piper for his performance against Birmingham City over the weekend.
At King Power Stadium on Saturday, the East Midlanders won their second straight game and eliminated relegation-threatened Birmingham City 2-1.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the talisman for Leicester, gave the home team the lead with a well-placed strike, but Jay Stansfield gave the visitors a point shortly before halftime.
The 32,000 spectators in attendance were taken aback as Mads Hermansen kicked the ball directly into the charging attacker’s net.
Enzo Maresca’s team still had work to do in the second half, but in the 87th minute, Stephy Mavididi’s header of Yunus Akgun’s tempting cross proved to be successful.
It was a well-earned triumph that moved City back to the top of the Championship table after Leeds United and Ipswich Town lost to Coventry City and Norwich City, respectively.
After the game, BBC Radio Leicester pundit Matt Piper delivered a straightforward demand to one Leicester star.
As he has been for the majority of the campaign, Abdul Fatawu was a steady source of support down the right-hand side. But Piper has pushed him to make the finished product better.
The former Leicester winger described the player as “such a strange player because he’s very sporadic, he can make things happen and can get into some really nice areas.”
He obviously has to work on his end product, even if I felt he started the game extremely well. He rushes it; I believe that when he accomplishes something truly amazing, his heart rate shoots through the ceiling.
He lashed out at a couple today into the stadium, which makes him really volatile. Wilfred Ndidi gave him multiple underlaps that he repeatedly overhit.
In addition, he mentioned that Yunus, who replaced him to help with the winning goal, was someone he could learn from.
Piper continued, “He could look at people like Yunus and just that calmness on the ball.”
