The San Francisco 49ers, where Arik Armstead has spent his entire playing career, contacted him early in the NFL summer to inquire about taking a sizable pay cut in exchange for staying with the team for the 2019 campaign.
Armstead was ultimately able to find a new home in the NFL when he signed a big three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, even though he had a good contract, Armstead wasn’t satisfied with how his time with the 49ers ended.
Armstead obviously enjoyed his time with the legendary NFL team, even though he was unable to leave on his own terms. He recently discussed playing defense for the 49ers, according to Tidal League.
Armstead has an opportunity to make an impact with the Jaguars and impart what he learned from his time in San Francisco to his new teammates in Jacksonville, even though it is obvious that he would have preferred to have stayed with the 49ers going forward—especially since the team is a constant title contender.
The Jaguars are coming off a disappointing season in which they were completely eliminated from the NFL playoffs, but Armstead and company have the opportunity to come back stronger in 2024 and attempt to regain their position as an AFC playoff contender while also competing for the AFC South division title.
