With 52 goals to his credit, Vilikazi is acknowledged by the Orlando Pirates as their all-time leading goalscorer. According to some unreliable databases, he has scored 58 goals for the team.
The all-time greatest goal scorer for Orlando Pirates
On September 8, 1982, Vilikazi was born in Diepkloof, Soweto.
Vilikazi began playing football at Diepkloof Hellenic. Later on, he was selected by the Orlando Pirates youth system.
Vilikazi, who was only 1.57 meters tall, compensated for his lack of stature and physical presence with amazing skills that his peers could only dream of.
Vilikazi, who is currently retired, continues to own the record for most points scored by the Orlando Pirates.
Between 1999 and 2007, Vilikazi spent eight seasons as a player for the Orlando Pirates. He moved to the Danish Superliga team Aalborg BK in July 2007.
TOP GOAL SCORER FOR ORLANDO PIRATES: PEAK PASSES
Nevertheless, Vilikazi only managed to play a few games for the club before becoming unwell early in his stay in Denmark.
He joined Mamelodi Sundowns after returning to South Africa, although he was never able to reach his previous level of goal scoring at Mayfair.
Vilkazi initially shared the field with the player he would eventually eclipse as the Orlando Pirates’ leading scorer. He played with the well-known striker during his second tenure at the club for “Legs of Thunder” and considered Jerry Sikhosana to be his idol.
For the Orlando Pirates, Sikhosana scored more than 40 goals. He left in 2001, having failed to reach 50 goals. Vilikazi would claim his mark in less than ten years.
Vilikazi was turned down by Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos prior to joining Orlando Pirates.
He was inspired to disprove Jomo Sono when the well-known coach discounted his prospects because of his height. However, Kaizer Chiefs did not respond to his rejection in any way.
Vilikazi experienced the bizarre journey of becoming a football star after settling in with the Orlando Pirates and eventually making it to the first squad.
After serving as a ball boy for celebrities like Sikhosana, he was mingling with famous people and international stars.
Scandals occasionally threatened to ruin Vilikazi’s career, therefore he was unable to escape the trappings of being an Orlando Pirates star.
He was hauled to court on charges of statutory rape following an off-field controversy, and although he was found not guilty, he later apologized for bringing the sport into shame.
Vilikazi had trouble with discipline.
While on loan from Sundowns, he had a falling out with the Mpumalanga Black Aces management, which led to a brief stint at Black Leopards.
Vilikazi played in Botswana till the end of his career.
It is widely accepted that although though he holds the record for most goals scored by Orlando Pirates, he did not reach his full potential.
