TEMPE – Following a split weekend in California, No. 8 Sun Devil Water Polo is back home to host Ottawa-Arizona and No. 5 California in two games at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon. The first game begins at 12 p.m. AZT, and the second game is against the Spirit at 3 p.m.
ASU Live-Stream 2 will broadcast the MPSF matchup against the Golden Bears, and 6-8 sports will provide live stats for both contests.
This season, the Sun Devils are 9-0 at home, have outscored opponents 152-49 at Mona Plummer, and are 17-1 when they score ten or more goals in a game.
The Sun Devils defeated No. 17 San Jose State 15–10, with Luca Petovary scoring six goals to lead the way. Arizona State lost to No. 4 Stanford last Sunday, 10-9, in a back-and-forth game that saw seven different players score goals.
Announced on March 14. Luca Petovary was one of 22 collegiate women water polo player to be named on the Cutino Watch List, recognizing the best collegiate water polo players in the country. Petovary currently has an MPSF leading 102 goals, 22 assists for 124 points.
Millie Quin and Sophie Shorter-Robinson are ranked second and third on the squad in goals and points, respectively, after participating together for New Zealand this past summer. Quin has scored 60 goals in 25 games, which is the 11th most goals a Sun Devil has scored in a season. She also has the seventh-most points in a season with 95 this season. She had five games in a row this season with three or more goals, and she had eight games this season where she had multiple steals.
With 28 drew exclusions thus far this season, Shorter-Robinson is presently ranked second in the MPSF conference. He has scored a goal in 18 of his last 19 games.
