At Puskas Arena in Budapest on Friday, March 23, Turkey defeated Hungary 1-0 in a friendly match; Ridvan was hurt in the thigh.
Rangers: Ridvan Yilmaz sent home from international duty with Turkey as statement released

It has now been confirmed that the defender has been sent back to Rangers, as manager Vincenzo Montella had previously stated he would hold off on making a decision regarding him.

A mandatory change has been made to the candidate squad of our National Team, which will play Austria in a special encounter on Tuesday, March 26th, according to a statement posted on the website of the Turkish Football Federation on March 23.

“Our defender Rıdvan Yılmaz sustained an injury to his upper left thigh muscle during yesterday’s match against Hungary, so he was taken out of the candidate squad.”

When Ridvan hobbled off the field against Hungary, everyone immediately wondered if he would be ready for the forthcoming Old Firm match.

The Scottish Premiership title battle may be decided by that match, thus the Gers will want to use every senior player available.

Before this announcement on Saturday, March 23, The Scottish Sun had stated that the full-back was seen as a “major doubt.”

The Rangers medical team will now examine Ridvan and decide what kind of therapy is required to get him back up to speed as quickly as possible.

After he was linked to a move away from Ibrox at the beginning of the January transfer window, Ridvan has really raised the bar on his performances.

Philippe Clement would obviously be anxious to have him available for the Celtic match on April 7th, since he has established himself as a regular at left-back.

Rangers’ only option at this time is to wait for Ridvan to get back to Glasgow so he can go through testing, after which they can provide another update.
