In an overcrowded free agent market, Julian Blackmon continues to be one of the best safety alternatives. Although the Bills have already hosted him, there is still interest from other teams in the league.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, Blackmon will meet with the 49ers today. Not surprisingly, he continues, “several suitors” are still in the picture in this instance. Given his performance from the previous season, outside bidders will undoubtedly be vying for the 25-year-old’s services. However, he may decide to sign a new contract with the Colts in 2024.
In his contract year, the former third-round pick recorded 88 tackles, eight pass deflections, and four interceptions. Thus, Blackmon entered free agency as one of the best defenders available, even in an offseason that saw multiple experienced safety let go by their respective teams. With 46 career starts under his belt, he would provide a new team experience, and San Francisco seems like a sensible place to start.
Last season, the NFC champions were severely impacted by injuries to their secondary players. ACL tears befell All-Pro Talanoa Hufanga, while a biceps injury claimed the life of George Odum.
