Former Reds youth teammate Jamie Carragher had predicted Jamie Cassidy for the Liverpool first team; however, Cassidy now faces life in prison due to his involvement in a multi-million dollar drug trafficking ring. Although Cassidy was well-liked by Liverpool and England personnel, injuries prevented him from pursuing a professional career.
The 46-year-old has acknowledged his involvement in a scheme to smuggle large quantities of cocaine into Europe from South America. Jonathan, Jamie’s 50-year-old older brother, was leading a group.
It was discovered that they had brought hundreds of kg of narcotics into Liverpool. Consignments arrived via Amsterdam, disguised in cars that had been altered, coming from Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil.
After the cocaine reached Liverpool, Jamie would coordinate its transportation throughout England and Scotland with a number of reliable couriers. The prosecution’s Richard Wright KC stated that Cassidy was involved in the day-to-day operations and management of his brother Nasar Ahmed’s (51), cocaine importation company.
Just months before their arrests, in April and May of 2020, the Cassidy brothers arranged agreements that delivered drugs into the UK valued at over £28 million over a six-week period. They used a real estate company to launder their money.
The business used the funds to purchase many locations in Liverpool, including an old movie theater. However, by breaking into the group’s encrypted communications system, French detectives were able to bring an end to the operation.
The gadgets were employed to plan the north of England’s multi-kilo quantities’ acquisition, importation, selling, and distribution. The movement of about £10 million in cash over the course of three months is connected to the related conspiracy to transfer illegal property.
